Most people see a coffee mug as just another part of their morning routine.
I looked at mine and wondered…
What if something was actually living inside it?
That simple question became the inspiration for another AI transformation experiment, turning an ordinary reusable coffee cup into the home of a tiny dragon.
From an Ordinary Coffee Cup to an AI Dragon
The original image was taken at work while I was sitting at my desk enjoying a coffee.
Nothing about the photo was unusual.
A reusable coffee cup sat beside my laptop, with paperwork and the workshop in the background.
Rather than creating a fantasy scene from scratch, I wanted to keep everything exactly as it was and only animate the coffee cup itself.
The goal was to make viewers question whether something had always been hiding inside.
The AI Video Idea
Instead of having the dragon magically appear, I wanted the scene to feel believable.
The coffee mug begins to rattle slightly.
The screw-on lid slowly twists itself loose, as though someone inside is carefully unscrewing it.
Once the lid is removed, a tiny dragon climbs out onto the rim of the mug.
It looks around curiously, takes in its surroundings, then lets out a small puff of fire before calmly climbing back inside.
Finally, the lid screws itself back on, leaving the coffee cup looking completely normal again.
The humour comes from how casually the dragon behaves, almost as though this is something it does every morning.

Why This Idea Worked
One thing I’ve learned while experimenting with AI video generation is that simple ideas often produce the best results.
Rather than filling the scene with explosions or dramatic effects, this video focuses on one unexpected moment.
Everyone recognises a coffee cup.
Nobody expects a tiny dragon to be living inside it.
That contrast is what makes the animation memorable.
Behind the Scenes
Modern AI video generators are incredibly capable, but getting them to produce realistic animations still requires careful prompting.
The biggest challenge with this project was ensuring the dragon appeared to climb naturally from inside the cup without changing the surrounding environment.
Keeping the workshop, lighting and camera angle unchanged helps make the final animation feel much more believable.
Every AI video I create usually takes multiple prompt revisions before the result looks the way I imagined.
